Fairs and events

  • Bullfighting Festival (January to February): The Bullfighting Festival is a typical event held in January and February at the city bull rink named Plaza de Toros la Macarena, which is the only covered bull-rink on the continent. Not only fans visit the festival, you can also find the best runners and connoisseurs of the art of bullfighting
  • Holy Week: (March-April) Holy Week is a Catholic celebration commemorated every year. During these eight days, the Catholic religion and all its followers participate in processions and religious activities.
  • Tango Festival del tango: (June) for Tango lovers, this cultural event gives lovers of this musical genre the opportunity to participate in three presentations and contests which promote activities like singing and dancing. These are spaces created to appreciate and support talents which keep this tradition alive.
  • Colombiamoda (July) is a three-day event when companies from all over the world come together to commercialize the textile industry.  This event has the participation of important Enterprises, international guests and the best Colombian Talent. National and international designers present their collections and conferences. European and Latin American buyers attend this event.
  • Medellin Flower Festival (Feria de las Flores) (August) is a traditional Festival in the city. During the event different activities take place including Cultural activities, concerts, and parades among others. The main event of the flower festival is the Silleteros Parade (Flower Saddle Arrangements). Other activities tourists can enjoy during the festival include a Horse Parade, a classical and antique automobile parade, and a typical Antioquian minstrel Festival, among others.   • Expoartesano (expo- craftsperson): This is a fair which aims to connect the audience with a pass through traditional knowledge and experience of the traditional and contemporary indigenous communities, represented in their handcrafts. 
  • Colombiatex: In Medellin, Colombiatex of the Americas is an event which has become a fundamental space for the textile industry in Colombia. In this event, which takes place from January 27th to January 29th attendees can attend outdoor fashion shows and visit the installations which are 9,600 square meters of 500 commercial showrooms. 
  • Christmas lights: (December) Medellin's Christmas lights are renowned internationally because of their creativity and 16 million lights that form the city's Christmas light arrangements every year and which cover 70 sites in the city
